The NANOS Advocacy Committee would like to share an advocacy win regarding the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) final ruling related to E/M services.

As a result of all of our collective voices and advocacy efforts within NANOS and through our advocacy partnerships--CMS heard us.  CMS announced on November 1st, that they are delaying implementation of its proposal to collapse payment for E/M codes until 2021.  There will be no major E/M payment changes for 2019 as initially proposed.  Rather, CMS has modified its plan and in 2021 will collapse codes 2-4, BUT maintain level 5 as they recognize the effort and work involved with caring for complex patients.

The CMS fact sheet, which has more details than you have seen from AAO and AAN, may be found here.

The NANOS Advocacy Committee will continue to monitor the situation and collaborate with our coalition partnerships.

Thank you again for speaking up---we were heard!

Sincerely,

NANOS Advocacy Committee
