The purpose of the Development Committee is to develop a plan for funding goals of NANOS, obtain grants and donations from private companies and individuals and work with Research Committee to obtain funding for research.

Committee Tasks

  • Develop long-term relationships with vendors and exhibitors, to sustain financial support for educational programs (not only NANOS but possible satellite updates for other specialties)
  • Develop strategies to encourage member donations to NANOS (eg with dues, bequests, other giving opportunities), and oversee those donations
  • Develop giving opportunities for the public and grateful patients, and oversee these donations
  • Develop ideas for an endowment, or a capital campaign, including possible uses of funds according to NANOS needs, prospectus, etc
  • Develop ideas for products that could have financial benefits for NANOS
  • Develop ideas for monetizing offerings such as NOVEL

Relevant NANOS Strategic Plan Goal(s)

  • NANOS will develop its financial resources to support its goals
    • NANOS will work with l/l to rejuvenate and expand development committee tasks
    • NANOS will investigate allocating time at l/l to support fundraising efforts as planned with executive and development committees
    • NANOS will consider asking members to fund a voluntary credit card program where they give us a monthly donation automatically
    • NANOS shall be more aggressive pursuing donations from grateful patients and corporations. This may include:
      • Developing an endowment
      • Developing a prospectus
      • Developing patient materials about supporting neuro-ophthalmology
      • Starting a capital campaign, establish named (funded) lectures.
