The NANOS Nominating Committee is now seeking nominations for the following Officer positions and three (3) At-Large Board position. The term will start July 1, 2024.

President-Elect (2-year term)
Vice President (2-year term)
Treasurer (2-year term)
Secretary (2-year term)
At-Large Board Seat (3-year term)

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO SERVE OR BE NOMINATED? Nominees must be Fellows of NANOS who have been involved on the NANOS committees and taskforces. Self-nominations are accepted. Interested parties do not need to canvas the membership for letters – each suggestion will be carefully considered. Per the NANOS Bylaws, International Fellows are not eligible for at-large Board positions but they are eligible to serve in an advisory role. The NANOS President appoints an International Board Member in an advisory role every two years. Please see Article IV and V of the NANOS Bylaws for further details regarding the Executive Board and nominations process.

WHAT IS THE EXPECTATION? With the expansion of NANOS's goals and activities, we need Board members who have a good working knowledge of NANOS, a track record of devoting time and energy to the organization, and proven leadership ability. The Nominating Committee therefore takes into consideration commitment and service to NANOS, particularly in the performance of leadership roles such as being a NANOS Committee Chair.

  • The NANOS Board members are expected to dedicate at least 2-3 hours per week on the NANOS book of business; the NANOS Officers on average dedicate 3-4 hours per week.
  • The NANOS Board meets 3 times a year, two times in person (at the NANOS annual meeting and in conjunction with the AAO meeting) and one time virtually in the summer. The NANOS Officers have 2 additional virtual meetings that they are expected to attend.
  • The NANOS Officers are also expected to oversee their respective committees.
