Purpose

Promote the "face" of neuro-ophthalmology within the scientific community and the public by selecting and advertising noteworthy scientific material from the NANOS membership.

Committee Tasks

  • Work with the Abstract Chair, select interesting topical material presented at the Annual Meeting potentially of interest to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and transmit that information to the AAO
  • Work with the Abstract Chair, select interesting topical material presented at the Annual Meeting potentially of interest to the American Academy of Neurology, and transmit that information to the AAN
  • Work with the Abstract Chair, select interesting topical material presented at the Annual Meeting potentially of interest to the Media, and transmit that information to the Media

Relevant NANOS Strategic Plan Goal(s)

  • NANOS will be the unified voice of neuro-ophthalmology in the US and Canada
  • NANOS will be the premier resource for neuro-ophthalmic information and services for other providers of health care
  • NANOS shall develop/expand its public relations efforts
  • This shall include releasing the best of the annual meeting information to related groups (AAO, AAN) and media, including social media
  • We shall attempt to build relationships with media outlets to educate the public about the existence of neuro-ophthalmology and the advantages of seeking neuro-ophthalmic care
  • NANOS will advocate for neuro-ophthalmologists and neuro-ophthalmology
  • NANOS shall develop/expand public relations tasks in order to:
    • Release best of annual meeting information to related groups (AAO, AAN) and media
    • Build relationships with media outlets to educate the public about the existence of neuro-ophthalmology and the advantages of seeking neuro-ophthalmic care
