JOB OPPORTUNITY – NEURO OPHTHALMOLOGY CENTRAL CT

University of Connecticut Health Center (UConn Health) is looking for a fellowship trained Neuro-Ophthalmologist to assume full clinical and academic duties in the departments of Ophthalmology and Neurology. Surgical training (Ophthalmology) is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates from both Neurology and Ophthalmology residency training will be considered. Currently we follow approximately 4000 patients with specific neuro-ophthalmologic diagnoses. Since there are only 3 full-time Neuro-Ophthalmologists in the state, the catchment area is very large and includes western Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. New patient referrals exceed 20 per week of which I currently can only see about 8 per week. The proposed candidate would see Neuro-Ophthalmology patients only. Teaching of neurology residents and 3rd year medical students in neurology and/or ophthalmology would be encouraged. Opportunity for clinical research exist in both departments. Currently I am reducing my time but would overlap the proposed candidate for at least 1 year to provide additional training and guidance. If you are interested please contact me directly (cell phone below) and email your CV to myself and Jeanine Suchecki, MD, Chief Ophthalmology Division of the Department of surgery.
