NANOS Grants and Awards Opportunities

We are excited to present a range of opportunities to advance neuro-ophthalmology and recognize excellence within our community. Apply for prestigious awards and grants, or nominate a deserving colleague, to drive innovation, foster leadership, and celebrate those making significant contributions to the to the field of neuro-ophthalmology.

NANOS 2026 PILOT RESEARCH GRANT

Join NANOS in supporting investigator-initiated research in neuro-ophthalmology through the NANOS Pilot Research Grant Program. This program provides a one-year, non-renewable source of funding to help principal investigators generate preliminary data that can lead to additional funding from national agencies or foundations. THOMAS AND SUSAN CARLOW YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD

This North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS) sponsored award of $1,000 and meeting registration reimbursement will be given to a candidate or active NANOS member and is designed to encourage basic or clinical research in neuro-ophthalmology. Learn more here

DR. IVY DREIZIN LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT GRANT

NANOS recognizes the need to stimulate leadership development in diverse members of its community. The Dr. Ivy Dreizin Leadership Development Grant provides a one-time, non-renewable source of funding to support leadership development for a NANOS member. Learn more here

NOMINATE 2026 MERIT AWARD RECIPIENTS

Nominations for the 2026 Merit Award are now open! Recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to NANOS through their time, energy, and resources. Submit your Scientific Abstract for the NANOS 2026 Annual Meeting and be selected for one of the following best abstract awards:

  • Best Abstract by a Medical Student
  • Best Abstract by a Resident Award
  • James A. Sharpe Best Abstract Award by a Fellow
  • Best Frank B. Walsh Session Paper Presentation by a Fellow Award

SUBMIT TO JNO: J. LAWTON SMITH AWARD

This award is named in honor of Dr. Smith’s unique and seminal contributions as a clinical neuro-ophthalmologist and as the founding editor of the journal.
