AAN HEALTH CARE SYMPOSIUM SCHOLARSHIP

Congratulations to Aileen Antonio, MD for getting selected as a recipient for the inaugural AAN Health Care Equity Symposium Scholarship.

Aileen A. Antonio MD has been selected to be one of the recipients of the inaugural AAN Health Care Equity Symposium Scholarship recipients. She will participate in a multi-faceted program guided to continue personal development and to help the participants create a customized roadmap aimed at mitigating health care disparities. The program will kick off at the 2021 Annual Meeting and will meet virtually four times leading up to the 2022 Annual Meeting. At the conclusion of the program, recipients will have gained knowledge on health care disparities and learned tools and resources they can put into action at their own institutions.

Health Care Equity Symposium
On Monday, April 19, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. ET, the inaugural Health Care Equity Symposium will debut at the 2021 AAN Annual Meeting. Attend this event to learn more about health care disparities that exist in the health care system and within the field of neurology, and hear about ways to eliminate the disparity gap.

The symposium will feature the Cheryl A. Jay Keynote Lecture, given by Joseph R. Betancourt, MD, MPH, Vice President, Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer, at Massachusetts General Hospital, and an expert in health policy, health care disparities, diversity, and cross-cultural medicine. The lecture is titled "Structural Equity: Lessons from 2020."

This lecture will be followed by a panel discussion and live Q&A with the following AAN members:

Scholarship Program
The AAN is pleased to announce the 2021 Health Care Equity Scholarship Recipients. As part of this scholarship, these individuals will attend a full day of programming centered around health care equity, diversity, and inclusion on Monday, April 19, 2021, in conjunction with the virtual AAN Annual Meeting.

In addition, the recipients will be participating in a year-round curriculum aimed at strengthening their knowledge around health care disparities.
