HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM NANOS - VIDEO MESSAGE FROM DR. ANDREW LEE, NANOS PRESIDENT

COMMITTEE CORNER: SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM COMMITTEE UPDATE

Valerie Biousse, MD, Chair, Scientific Program Committee and President-Elect

Committee Purpose?

The NANOS Scientific Program Committee is in charge of developing and maintaining the educational program for the NANOS Annual Meeting. It also monitors activities of NANOS that are related to other educational issues of importance to NANOS. This committee creates the NANOS meeting scientific program and overviews all optional symposia. It is extensive and very tedious work which involves reviewing evaluations from the previous years’ meeting, communication with numerous NANOS members and review of the most recent literature prior to coming up with a detailed program that needs to be compliant with CME requirements and be approved by the NANOS Board. The committee is also responsible for making sure the meeting goes smoothly and it is also charged with monitoring moderators and speakers’ performance during the meeting.

Recent Achievement(s) or Update(s)?

The 2020 Annual Meeting program is ready and is currently in the hands of our CME committee who is working hard to ensure that all attendees receive CME credits. We have an exciting combination of classic neuro-ophthalmic educational sessions, mostly focusing on controversial topics and new treatments including low vision, as well as practice management topics including Tele-Ophthalmology and a dedicated Coding and Billing optional symposium. Dr. Amin Kassam and his team are returning to NANOS for an anticipated neurosurgical session including 3D anatomy and demonstration of skullbase surgical approaches with a “live” dissection. Of course, there will be numerous opportunities for social interactions and adventures in beautiful Amelia Island. We are continuing the tradition of offering a Neuro-Radiology optional symposium with the Walsh Team on Saturday afternoon. So, plan to arrive early!

EXEMPLARY COMMITTEE MEMBER(S)

A big thanks to all our Committee Members who have shown again how important the NANOS Annual Meeting is.

FUTURE GOAL(S)?

Did you know that the next meeting is mostly planned during the NANOS Annual Meeting? The program needs to be finalized by May and the program is designed as soon as we receive your evaluations and comments. So, please complete your evaluation forms during the meeting and let us know what we should bring to NANOS 2021!

ANYTHING ELSE?

Check the program and pre-register for activities and optional symposia as some will have limited seating.
